Calendar Art Contest 

The Montgomery County Family and Children First sponsors an annual contest sponsored by the Ohio Children's Trust Fund and Family and Children First Councils.  The theme of the contest is "ATTENTION ADULTS:  YOU Are The KEY to Preventing Child Abuse & Neglect".    Fifth grade students are asked to depict things people can do in their everyday lives to prevent child abuse and neglect.    To see our Winners click HERE.  To get more information on the contest click HERE

 

Brother Raymond L. Fitz, S.M., Ph.D. Award

  • The 2005 Brother Raymond L. Fitz, S.M., Ph.D. Award was presented on Friday, February 18, 2005 to Barbara Holmes.  Nominations for the 2006 Award will be solicited this fall.  You can learn more about the creation of the Award and get information on the previous recipients by clicking on the Awards button above.

  • Social Indicators for localities, school districts, Census tracts, and zip codes within Montgomery County are now available online.  Included are some of the Indicators from our annual Progress Report and some Census data.

     
  • The 2004 Progress Report: Outcomes, Indicators and Strategic Community Initiatives was released on February 18, 2005.  For a copy of this report, as well as the previous Reports, click on the cover (right) or on the Reports button above.   You may also contact the Office of Family and Children First using the contact information at the bottom of this page for a copy.
     

 

  • Help Me Grow (HMG) is a system of services for eligible expectant parents and newborns, infants, and toddlers under age three and their families.  The program is funded by the State of Ohio and locally administered by the Family and Children First Council through contracts with local providers.  Services focus on infant and toddler development to help give children the best possible start in life.  Call Starting Point Central Intake and Referral at 237-0123 (1-800-750-0750 TTY/TDD).

  • Easy Steps to Grow Great Kids is a public awareness campaign of the Montgomery County Family and Children First Council. The campaign is designed to address the issue of school readiness among young children in Montgomery County.  Click on the logo to get more information and supplies.
     


 

  • Education – Think About It  is a media campaign designed to Promote School Success.  The Montgomery County Family and Children First Council and the Human Services Levy Council sponsor the campaign.  It is designed to communicate to the parent/caregiver and student that attending school is critical to the student’s future.  Clicking on the logo will send you to the School Is Worth It website where you’ll find resources for parents and students.  There is also a Parent Resource Guide that contains important phone numbers.

     

  • Expand your world.  Be a Mentor!  Research indicates that mentoring children who have no significant adult influence in their lives is effective in motivating a child to stay in school to learn and behave in positive ways.  Thus, mentors for children are needed as part of the answer to improving the health, welfare, and workforce in the Miami Valley.  Click on the logo to learn how you can make a positive difference in a child’s life!

Our Profile

The Montgomery County Family and Children First Council (FCFC) is a structure designed to speak for the collective human service needs of the people of Montgomery County, Ohio.  The Council acts to focus the human services agendas of public and private boards, including local governments, and to leverage the learning and resources of the local community to achieve the following desired community outcomes:

The community discussion about Outcomes and Indicators has led to the promotion of Outcomes accountability by the human services planning and delivery network.  Outcomes accountability means being aware of results and determining responsibility for achieving them.
